The champion national wrestler İlhan Çıtak who has never been defeated in his wrestling career of 17 years will represent Turkey in Deaflympics 2017 Samsun. The goal of the 40-year-old national wrestler is to finish his career as the Olympic champion for the fifth time.

Turkish National Wrestler İlhan Çıtak who will compete in 23rd Summer Deaflympics prepares to wave the Turkish flag for the fifth time in the Olympic Games.

Çıtak who started wrestling at the age of 10, became a member of the young national team, suffered from severe hearing loss due to fever at the age of 15. Now he competes in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in Turkish Deaf Wrestling National Team for 17 years.

Çıtak, who first experienced Deaflympics in Rome in 2001 and won a gold medal, he continues this habit in Melbourne 2005, Taipei 2009 and Sofia 2013. Turkish national wrestler who stated that Deaflympics 2017 which will be held in Samsun is very important to him and said: "I'm thinking of making jubilee now. My goal in Samsun is to win the fifth Olympic gold medal for my country and end my career at the top.

HE TRAINS THE FUTURE CHAMPIONS

Çıtak, who also works as a physical education teacher beside his wrestling career stated that he wants to transfer his wrestling experience to future generations and added: "I currently have 20 wrestling students in the school that I work. We will use our experiences to train and serve our deaf athletes even after we retired."

İlhan Çıtak, the name that brought the most gold medals in Deaflympics history to Turkey will compete in the freestyle and Greco-roman wrestling in 98 kg weight class in 23rd Deaflympics.
