Turkish athletes, who will compete in Deaflympics to be held in Samsun between 18-30 July, have arrived at Olympic Village.

With days numbered until Deaflympics 2017, Turkish National Teams arrived at the Olympic Village. After badminton, bowling, golf, handball, table tennis, beach volleyball, tennis and volleyball teams who were training in Samsun; another group of 91 people who were training in Ankara consisting of shooting, swimming, athletics and orienteering teams have made their entry to Olympic Village.

The group from Ankara received their accreditation cards from 23rd Summer Deaflympics Coordination Center in Atakum and checked into Olympic Village located in 19 Mayıs University campus afterwards.


Hasan-Hüseyin Baydaş brothers, who will compete in athletics, said they wanted to receive medals and invited the people of Samsun to the Games.

Seda-Seval Ozturk sisters who will participate in the Deaflympics for the first time in the shooting sport, said: "We are excited. We will work hard. We will compete to win. We expect the people of Samsun to watch the Olympic Games".


The Chinese squad, who will compete in  23rd Summer Deaflympics with 74 people, also made their first entry to the Olympic Village with 49 athletes.

Badminton player Wangmeng, who expressed that he was impressed by the warm welcome of Deaflympics volunteers, continued "I visited Turkey for the first time. I have seen Cappadocia and Pamukkale on television before. I was very curious. Now I am happy to be in Turkey to compete in Deaflympics"

There will be participants from 6 different continents competing in 23rd Summer Deaflympics, hosted in Samsun. The Olympic Village, with a capacity of 4,400 people, will bring together athletes from 97 countries.
